Welcome to the Sillycone Valley -- [2008]
This is album doesn't disappoint you if you were into the suggestive lyrics and image that Lene Alexandra carried herself with when you first heard her single "My Boobs are Okay", and she kinda is a more eurodance/bubblegum/synth-pop solo-version of the Pussycat Dolls with the way she presents herself and message she has in her lyrics.
I for one I am into that, as I am pretty flexible as far as range of sound that I enjoy and this is just on another spectrum.
Well onto to the tracklist:
1) Sillycone Valley - The title track and quite possibly the best song she has ever made, because its more 'down-to'earth' in a way; although the song-title still suggests sexuality. The sound is more 'flowing' and 'smooth' and the chorus is very 'hypnotic'. The song does have a hypnotizing effect on you and when its done you think you missed something and have to playback. -- 10/10
2) Partystarter - The song has much more pop sound to than the last one. This one has 'rougher' edges to it and could be cleaned up more; it seems more out-of-control sound-wise and that doesn't do justice in this case. Honestly, some may like this one, but I found it not to be quite as up-to-par as many other songs on this CD. If you want a song to have as background to a party or get-together this one would be a good fit. -- 4/10
3) Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy, Me - The very beginning of this song "I pick all my skirts to be a little too sexy..." -- the way this is said has you optimistic, but then a weird-sounding synthesizer that is kinda 'crunchy/scratchy' sounding comes in it kinda ruins whatever is going on in front of it. Dont get me wrong this song still has its moments, for example the pre-chorus transition is catchy but then the choruskicks in, it isnt quite as appealing to me. -- 5/10
4) I'm Just a Tease - very upbeat throughout. alot of a grinding guitar-ish sound made, again not the best pick for a synth choice. However, this time its more standable than the last song's. What is very catchy, is the high-pitched voice she has throughout this song, almost like a 'pleading' pitch, maybe. This song is a pretty good upgrade in my opinion from the last two songs in many ways. 7/10
5) Hot Boy Hot Girl - another goody and extremely upbeat. The chorus is infectous. The way she says "horny" is interesting. The beat is nothing special but unlike with other songs on this CD stays out of the way more and this is good. Has an 80s dance feel to it, the way the tune goes. As far as lyrics can appeal to anyone as in its name it mentions you could need a "hot boy" or "hot girl" if you are singing along 8/10
6) Sugar Daddy - Kinda cool synthesized male voice. Chorus is kinda of let-down in a way, until it gets to the second half of the chorus when it kinda 'speeds up' the chant, thats cool, so I guess that makes up for it a bit. 7/10
7) Nasty Girl - Club bass kicks in well here. I like the 'arabic' sounds that come in every once and a while. During the chorus she all the sudden sounds too 'distant', its strange. The parts where she does heavy breathing are interesting. Definitely a song fit for the clubs. The lyrics are not misleading, believe the title. 7/10
8) Glamour Superstar - Good hard beat. Fun lyrics. again could have had a better chorus. from "You can't get with me..." its sounds better though. 7/10
9) Catfight - You wouldnt see this song coming. Almost 'hip-hop', well not almost; it is for the verses. Very catchy though. Around this she has her typical style. Nice transition part from chorus back to verse (end of chorus). "Better step back..." part kills it. Extremely fun. Dont mess with me attitude flows from you, once you hear this. 9/10
10) My Boobs Are Okay - classic song, however has a makeover here. Its a remix. If you know the original; chances are you will like that version better than this. I wish they had just had the original on this CD instead, if you are going to have it at all. Because the orginal song is so good thats all that keeps it up the score here. 8/10
11) Sexy Wonderful - Much like "Catfight" you wont see this sound coming. I dont know how describe it except as like almost real old classic jazz-pop, not my cup-of-tea whatever it is, well not as good as the rest of the album anyway. 3/10
Total 6.8/10
