I first heard “We like to Party” in my school bus on my way to school when I was in sixth grade back in ’99. I really liked that song but like always didn’t know who sang the song, until one day I walked into a music store called Wherehouse Music and they had the Vengaboy’s album on one of those machines where you could listen to the whole album. So I put on the headphones and began listening to it, then I heard the “we like to party” song so I kept listening and it seemed that the album got better and better with each track. So I begged my dad to buy me a copy and he did and every chance I got I would listen to this CD. The Vengaboy’s was like the 5th CD I owned at the time so anything that I bought after had to sound similar.
1. We like to Party- Classic Euro-Dance song with a very distinctive beat and lyrics, definitely a party song, this song is also the reason why I bought this album and love this group.
2. Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom! – One of my favorite songs, this song is great because it’s very bouncy, the bass beat is awesome, the vocals are arranged perfectly and everything flows together, even the music video for this is great.
3. Up & down- Great dance song to play if you only wanted to hear the beat for “we like to party” this song is nothing special but it’s still good.
4. Ho Ho Vengaboys! - This is my favorite song from this whole entire album; I love the beat sequence and the lyrics. The speed of this is just like “Boom Boom” but not as bouncy but still a little bit better. The vocals are great, very fun song to sing too.
5. To Brazil- This song is along the lines of “Up & down” except the beat is different and of course the repetitive lyrics. I don’t mind listening to this but is not my first choice.
6. We’re going to Ibiza- when I first heard this I fell in love with it, even though it wasn’t as fast the lyrics captivated me, this is a great mellow, chill song, me and my friends used to sing to this when we used to go to the beach.
7. Vengababes From Outer Space- Love the beat to this song its very electro jazz, at points this has a great house beat. Both the male and female vocals are great, this is a really awesome funky song.
8. Superfly Slick- Awesome song, love the techno beat, the lyrics are awesome, love the speed, this was such a great addition to the album, before this album I had not really heard anything like this. I love blasting this in my car it’s remarkable.
9. Movin’ Around- Another great bouncy techno song, I like the beat and rhythm. This song is perfect because it transitions the album’s bass beat from a soft bounce to a faster repetitive bounce.
10. The Vengabeat- definitely incorporates beats from all the previous songs and it turned out amazing, this song is a great representation of their beat.
11. You and Me- This song was very different than everything else in a good way, most people don’t like this song but I do its amazingly different, the style is a jumble of trance with a Euro-dance beat.
12. Paradise…- I don’t like this song at all, I’m not a big fan of freestyle music, I think the beat is annoying and it does nothing for me.
Bonus Tracks
13. We like to Party (extended mix) - I enjoyed this very much it had a different style beat in the beginning that made it sound great, then it jumps into the original sequence song and flows out with a beat sequence, all in all great mix.
14. 1, 2, 3, 4- Great use of the signature beat with a great mix of synths and a cool bass beat, incredible song.
The Vengaboy’s- The Party Album was terrific Euro-Dance CD, I give this album a 10 even though they had two songs I dint really care for, I see what they were trying to do, incorporate every sense of dance into their album, the turn out was great because they offered a progression of dance in their work.
