Hit'n'Hide - "Space Invaders (2020)" | 2020
As a fan, I was very happy to know that Hit'n'Hide would be releasing a new single after 15 years without new releases, and the best, a rework of a much-loved song from his audience "Space Invaders". After that fact, I immediately did a lot of research and came across the cover of "Space Invaders (2020)" and immediately I realized that it would be a more mature song than the rest of the remixes, and I was really right. I still confess that when I pressed play on this track, I got quite a scare, because I thought that song would not be from Hit'n'Hide, but from other current electronic music groups, like The Chainsmorkes etc.
Really 'Space Invaders (2020)' is a great and well-produced song, which even has a more EDM/House emphasis on itself, following current trends. What I found very interesting is that they seem to invert the roles in the song compared to the original, with Morgan J, who previously provided a deep and rough vocal, now sings the chorus (together with Christina) in a soft and calm voice , while in the original release he only sang the verse parts. Christina S, in turn, sings the voice in a more mature tone, instead of a 'childish voice'.
I also loved the Vocoder which is widely used in this song, as it makes it even more mature, and without forgetting the mesmerizing melody that this song brings in itself, although nothing compared to the original production. An uncomfortable aspect of the song was the part when it transitions from the first (and second) verse to the chorus, it just doesn't prepare your listener for that part, the chorus (and the melody) coming in 'surprise' and it doesn't make any sense, which I think was a mistake.
But other than that, it's an extraordinary song that you should never miss. I recommend this song to any bubblegum dance fan, and if you are a big fan, you will really hate it.
The new style of music proposed by Hit'n'Hide members for "Space Invaders (2020)" seems very promising and, with a little more planning, Hit'n'Hide's next release should be incredible!
