Mp3 players

I have a 16 GB Sansa View. Mainly because it was way cheaper than an iPod/Zune and it held twice as much for the price. I never heard of it before, but I hoped for the best and bought it. It's got < 9 GB of music on it, so I won't be needed to get a bigger mp3 player anytime soon. I wanted to take all my music everywhere. I take it everywhere I go XD

Good news: it stopped acting silly recently. No more random lock-outs.

It works like a hard drive. I just copy and paste music and pics onto it. It supposedly syncs with windows media player, but I don't care for that option.

Ever sense my friend's computer almost died from an Ipod (luckily they have a friend who works for the government on computers! He boot kicked it out of there) I have not trusted them.

I personally own a Sansa 4GB clip. I love it! It gives you software to upload songs, but if you have Windows Media Player open when you plug it in to recharge or upload songs (it's an only computer USB recharger thing) WMP will sync it and not allow you to upload any songs from the software it comes with. It's okay with WMP, as long as it don't try and take your whole library to the player!
Goods on my sansa: FM radio, records voice & I think FM radio, has a few audio settings.
Bad: As time has gone on the headphone jack is becoming worn down. It's not too bad, but you need to move it a bit to get your sound back. 100% not as bad as my CD player! ;D

I have a 16 GB iPhone that's also an iPod. Before that, I had an 8GB iPod so I've been using Apple for a while. My iPhone/iPod works great. I know I have a lot less music than a lot of you guys do so it's more than enough space for me. But it uses up very little battery power when you listen to music and it sounds excellent. I have to recommend the Apple products, they're good quality. And not everything is that expensive, 8GB iPod Nano is $149, and it also plays videos.

I recently got a Zune myself and its difficult to get used to music-loading unless you hear me out.

Unless you go into the software and go to 'Device' and turn of Auto-Sync and set it to 'Only add music that I select' it will delete ANY songs from your Zune automatically if you delete them from whatever folder on your computer you have the Zune software reading.

Next: Unplug the Zune, and go to 'Collection' tab and go to the section where it wants to know what Folders to 'Monitor' and delete any that exist, next Make a New Folder where everything you download from now on will go to. Any music you download here will show on the Zune 'Collection' now as new music to put onto your Zune and wont delete anything from Zune (because of the settings I showed you already), once you get the point where thats alot of music you want to wipe off your computer or put onto a Flash-Drive (since Zune wont read those) go back into 'monitoring' in the Collection-settings and and delete that folder it's montioring and leave the software, do any deleting or moving of music files you want physically in your computer then go back to Zune software, create a new 'Download Drop Off' folder and have it monitor that. This has been my method and it works great once you get a routine.

Every month, I go into Zune and make the info and album art is good (album art on Zune looks so good!) for each song, then I put it onto the Zune, and I go into my computer's folder and move the music into 'archive' folders and delete the old Drop-Off Folder and make a new one every time the folder's name has a Date. Now you can go to your archives and delete or move whatever you want to Flash-drives without worrying about what the Zune software will think and this way I can also listen to everything new and old still on my Wondows Media Player (since you dont have everything available to you on Zune software to listen to anymore).

As complicated as this sounds unless you do this you may accidently wipe your entire collection!

Thank you, Haze! Yes, my boyfriend helped me set it up so it wouldn't delete stuff. He's been a Zune user for years ^-^

The only thing I don't like about Zune and Songbird (the music player I just recently started using) is that ALL of the artists I have songs from show up. I have some artists that I just have one or two songs from that I keep in Genre folders. Like, I have a folder of Bubblegum Dance that includes artists such as Baby Alice or Erika that I only have a couple songs from, and I'm not used to seeing them RIGHT beside Crispy and Aqua. *shrug*

Jumpy, if its a Shuffle it must have 930MB of space, not GB. If you had that much music I'd be jealous, as it is, if you only have have about 600MB (2/3 of 930), thats too narrow of a collection for my taste
