I've noticed the 1-6-4-5-1 progression (I-VI-IV-V-I) chord progression is really common in bubblegum dance music. For example, in the key of C major, the chords would be C major, A minor, F major, G major, C major. It's a really common pattern than bubblegum dance songs have.
Apparently, this progression is known as the "50s progression" because it's used a lot in 50s music, especially doo-wop.

All of my favorite bubblegum dance songs have this pattern. It seems to be the sound I like. I just wanted to point this out because for so long, I didn't know there was a name for it and I always found it hard to describe the sound I was referring to.
Best Friend - Toy Box is the best example I can think of.
Doki Doki - Smile.dk great example of it.
Bye Bye Bike - Creamy, my favorite BGD song of all time.
Chicks Tricks - Smile.dk also a really good example of it.
Hero - Miss Papaya has it, but in a different order.
Book of Love - Hit'n'Hide same thing as Hero. So does Red Yellow Green and Blue by Bambee.
Someday - Smile.dk
Ringa Ding Ding - Banaroo, I'll Fly Away, Bang Bang - Chipz, Rubber Duck - Jazmine, www.girl - Toy Box
Calcutta - Dr. Bombay
Then there's the I-IV-V progression, which is just C major, F major, G major, C major. It's also really common and it's really similar to the one I just mentioned.
Coconut - Smile.dk has it.
Eyahe - Djumbo has it.
Boya Boya Boya - Djumbo has it.
Bing Bang - LazyTown definitely has it...lol...it seems to make songs sound really happy.
Uh Mama - Banaroo
Boyz and Girlz - Djumbo
Waka Laka - Jenny Rom
Bongo Man - Passion Fruit
These are basically all my favorite BGD songs! See how common it is...lol
So do you know what I'm talking about or am I making no sense? I tried to tell to this my friend but he wasn't getting it lol.
