Anyone recognize this winner of the Danish Junior MGP competition in 2001 with the song "Du Har Brug For Mig"? Of course you do! Her name is Sisse Marie Soby, or at this time known professionally as Sisse, or Sissie Marie. Sisse began her career in Denmark with her popular hit single "Du Har Brug For Mig", which was entered into the Danish Junior MGP competition in 2001 in Denmark (for the hardcore MGP or Bubblegum fans, you might also remember acts such as Cocktail performing in this competition with "Uma Ma" or the fact that Rene from Aqua was a host that year). The song proved to be successful, scoring Sisse top place in the competition, leading her to win the entire competition with the most votes and points.
Since then, Sisse took a break to focus on her other interests such as modeling and working on MTV. In 2005, she attempted a comeback with a Ace Of Base flavoured pop track called "Boom!" under the new name Sisse Marie, but sadly, the single proved to be unsuccessful.
Finally, in 2010, Sisse Marie got the boost she needed for a comeback. A recent duet with the artist Morton Breum called "Every Time (You Look At Me)" proved to be successful, reaching #1 on the Danish program Tracklisten. Since then, Sisse Marie has began her official comeback, but as expected from past Bubblegum Dance stars, the Sisse Marie of today is defiantly not the Sisse Marie of yesterday.
Since then, Sisse Marie released her new single called "Dirty Hands", which charted at #12 and became a successful and popular eletropop song in Denmark. It also marks the latest change in Sisse's music style, moving completely away from teen pop music and into the more popular Electronic Dance music sound of today.
Sisse Marie's most recent single, "Kill For Your Love", to me, is probably her best new song yet. It is an excellent mix of Electronic Dance and Eurodance. According to sources, both singles are to be part of her upcoming second studio album, which is due out sometime this year.
So, what are everyone's thoughts on Sisse Marie's comeback? Do you like her new style, or do you wish she had've kept her old sound?
