Why are straight males leading the "Which best describes you?" survey poll on the Bubblegum Dancer website.
Nearly half of all the people who voted, where straight men and when combined with the scores from gay men, the overall total comes to over two thirds of everyone who voted been men.
This is a really interesting subject and I would love to know more about why men (and mostly straight men) would listen to bubblegum dance music. I don't mean to generalise, but when people think of the audience for bubblegum dance music, it’s more likely a young female audience and usually has a big gay following. It is the same with other genres like bubblegum dance music such as 80’s and 90’s pop. A good example with this is ‘Stock Aitken Waterman’ music from the 80’s and 90’s that produced hits for Kylie Minogue, Pat & Mick & Jason Donavon and usually was aimed at women and had a massive gay following.
So why is it that most men and mostly straight men listen to bubblegum dance?
Studies have been done onto why most people listen to different types of genres of music. The studies have found that the reason why most people listen to the music they do, is because of their childhood and what they experienced when they were children. This also explained why most people who listened to the same music also would have the same personalities.
So could this be the reason why more men listen to Bubblegum dance than women, Also with other people that you know who listen to bubblegum dance, do they all have the same sort of personalities or are they different?
I would really like to hear your thoughts about this subject from both men and women. I am really interested in particular into what you experienced as a child and what your childhood was like and if you think that there is a link to your childhood and why you listen to bubblegum dance music.
